The BootUp Program is a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing students and their communities for the challenges posed by automation and technology. Our goal, is to enable, support, and grow a robust community of qualified professionals, to continue to build this future and own its direction.
We are a mentor and training program focused on technology careers, and entrepreneurship. Traditional training and education methods are failing to serve many. The primary focus of our outreach resides within communities and demographics that are historically underrepresented in technology professions.
The program does not aim to replace traditional education methods. Rather, it aims to address the gap in these methods by emphasizing hands-on experience, with guidance from established mentors.
The Boot Up Program focuses on student communities that would typically lack exposure to technology disciplines. We understand that many talented and passionate individuals are never given a fair introduction to the possibilities, to to any number of factors.
Enrollment into the program is typically limited to candidates that are referred to the program by an existing member, or are engaged during a targeted enrollment drive. Each student will be subject to an interview process that will determine starting course material and their program mentor.
A volunteer force of established technology industry professionals looking to give back to their communities and foster the development of their particular disciplines. Eager to engage with the students who will soon become their peers.
Interacting with a mentor, and knowing how to be a good mentor, is a critical skill for any technology professional. The Boot Up Program is focused not just on individual student success, but also the shared success of our colleagues.
As the program matures, opportunities will arise for students to help create the education platform they've been using to learn.
With their mentors by their side, students will gain first-hand experience contributing to an open source software community. Their BootUp community!
Contributing students will be trained how use some of the most in-demand technologies and patterns available. Encouraging a culture where graduates are experienced and ready to push boundaries.
